Mount Hood: Snow Bank

Mom wanted to see Mount Hood, so we left Roseburg a day early and headed for the Timberline Lodge on the side of the mountain. Before we turned onto the road up the mountain there were banks of snow along the main highway. While driving up the mountain I was sure we would have to turn back. Signs indicated that it was required to carry chains. It rained all the way to the top where we had brunch but no view of Mount Hood. On the way back down I stopped to take a picture of the car next to a snowbank that is at least a foot and a half higher than the car!

The San Francisco Giants win the world series for the first time since 1954. But as the headline in the local paper said about the Rangers, "It was still a dream season"!

What a Hoot!

I came home form work one day and out of the corner of my eye I saw a big bird fly into our front yard. When I went to check it out I saw that it was an owl!

Pacific Northwest Trip: Narada Falls

Yesterday in the Hoh Rain Forest of Olympic National Park the sun was shining brightly. Today at Mount Rainier it will not stop raining and we never got to see the mountain. We did see some beautiful waterfalls such at this one.

Hummingbird in Back Yard

We decided to put up a hummingbird feeder on the back patio to see if we could attract any hummingbirds. Turns out that a couple dozen birds showed up on a regular basis. The stayed until September.

Hiking Near Red River, New Mexico

This is our favorite place to go hiking. It's about the closest place we can go and be in mountains with great access to water. Rocky, pictured here, loves the place!
