Don't Burn Your Bridges

The other day Edwina said she heard a lot of sirens. Later she said she read that what had happened was that the bridge had caught on fire! I said that was impossible, the bridge was made of concrete and steel, it couldn't have caught on fire. So we took a drive to check it out.

Sure enough, under the concrete there were large wooden beams that were charred. It will be months before the bridge will reopen. The lesson here, of course. . . "don't burn your bridges"!
