Remains of Ancient Gate within the Old City

Artist inlaying silver in brass
Our second full day in Damascus. We are having a great time and seeing a lot of interesting things. It's very hard to show in photographs what we are experiencing. I guess you just have to come here to understand.

Tomb of John the Baptist
Inside the Umayyad Mosque. John the Baptist tomb is in the center of this picture. This Mosque is the most important religious structure in Syria and one of the most important in all of Islam along with Mecca and the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.
